I just tried the latest snapshot from
ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/arch/sparc64/snapshot/20010114/
and followed instructions
ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/arch/sparc64/snapshot/20010114/INSTALL.html
'just works'. And it doesn't ask for root or dump.
