The kernel should tell you something like:
8223 MB, 16383 cyl, 16 head, 63 sec, 512 bytes/sect x 16841664 sectors
In the disklanel this gives:
bytes/sector: 512
sectors/track: 63
tracks/cylinder: 16
sectors/cylinder: 1008 # 16 * 63
cylinders: 16383
total sectors: 16841664
Other values aren't of much interest.
Also don't forget to make an entry for the raw partition:
c: 16841664 0 unused 0 0
