If I pull out Promise Ultra100TX2/ATA PCI card from i386 machine and 
   stick it on sparc Ultra10 machine, what are the chances of it working? :-)

unfortunately promise cards have a history of not working properly
in sparc64...  perhaps some iommu bugs that have been fixed since
are the cause, but in my and others experience it didn't work well..
