Look at the log file ( usually /var/log/XFree86.0.log ) - failure to
open /dev/pci0 id NOT the reason why it fails. You get this message on
all machines that don't have PCI ( should probably be downgraded to a
debug message )
Did you check if XFree86 wrote a config file?
