I don't know, maybe.  There have been some size barriers in openprom
for booting, but I don't know what's the newest box affected.  

I think SCSI drives are usually smaller no matter how much you pay.
One downside to any kind of [resonable bus]-to-IDE converter is that
smartctl won't work.
