Yeah, the case is annoying and the IDE chip - couldn't they have used  
a halfway decent one?
On the other hand, I had a SymBIOS 53c875 and a bunch of UW-SCSI  
disks sitting around so my U10's IDE ports were never hooked up to  
anything else than a CD burner. At least not while I had it ;)
And for the U60 - I want a burner, now I need an IDE interface since  
SCSI burners pretty much vanished from the market years ago. On  
second thought that's not much of a problem, I already have a USB 2.0  
card in there and USB-to-IDE frobs are probably cheaper than IDE cards.

About 64bit code - even with only 2GB RAM you might want more virtual  
address space for at least a few processes. Otherwise v8plus seems to  
be the way to go in most cases.
