Networking issues with heavy CPU usage on DOMU

Hi guys.

Heavy compiling like building distribution causes my XENU to "slow down"
network wise.
Ping times get very high growing up to 2000ms where it normally is about
40ms and it generally becomes pretty little responsive over tcp/ip.
DOM0 behaves normally.
Any idea how to tune/improve that? Is it even possible ?
I am on 4.99.6 and XEN 30-3.0.3.
