Same here.

It's a grub limit; I found it doesn't work too well the the block/fragment
size is anything else than 8192/1024, and if the filesystem, is bigger
than a few GB.

Same here. My / is always FFFv1 8192/1024, less than 512Mb. I never had issues
this way.
