Once you install ubuntu-xen-server packages, it also installs
vmlinuz-xenU kernels too...
You need to have an ubuntu installed or accessible first. That's not
what I would call "from scratch". It is not as simple as pointing to an
install ramdisk containing all we need to start a domU install.

Well forgive me if this is noob question, but how would we expect that
dom0 and domU will be from same source if one of them is netbsd-dom0 and
vmlinuz-xenU kernels?
I was just saying that installing a Linux domU was a pain from a NetBSD
or Solaris dom0, simply because install ramdisks are not easily
available. I didn't know about the Fedora/RH ones.
My last experiments was a Debian domU with a Nexenta (Solaris), and a
Fedora domU from a Lenny. Even tools like debootstrap do not help much
once distributions differ too much. You must rely on ISO mounts and that
requires quite some extra steps to make it work.
