Re: NetBSD vs Linux
Hi there!
I was able to set up a new Linux (Debian Lenny) domU without compiling
any new kernel. Since I was able to boot my Debian system, I installed a
new linux image "vmlinuz-2.6.30-1-amd64" using apt-get. Then I modified
my xen domain config file (http://xen.pastebin.com/m57b2104c) to use
this kernel image and the proper initrd image.
I wasn't able to boot the domain in runlevel 2 so I had to set extra to
"1". When I use runlevel 2 the boot process hangs. Log can be found here
(http://xen.pastebin.com/m2b16d94). I removed everything from
/etc/rc2.d/. I just get no login. Do you have any ideas what could be
the problem?
My 2nd problem is a "pci" option in the config file: "pci =
['0000:03:00.0']". I also add "pciback.hide=(03:00.0)" to the boot
parameters. When I run "xm create -c linux" I get:
---
[root@BlackTiny:/tmp]$ xm create -c linux
Using config file "/usr/pkg/etc/xen/linux".
Error: pci: failed to locate device and parse it's resources -
unsupported operand type(s) for +: 'NoneType' and 'str'
----------
Is there no pciback support in 3.3.x? Are there any workarounds?
BTW: I use xenkernel33-3.3.2 and xentools33-3.3.2nb1.
