I'm using current here, because 5.1 probably doesn't have the rx-copy network feature (needed on a linux dom0).5.1 may not have it (I don't remember), but 5.1_STABLE definitvely has.5.1 definitely doesn't, but yes, 5.1_STABLE does.
ok I tried with netbsd-5 (5.1_STABLE), indeed rx copy mode is enabled and network works otherwise ; but regarding the static route I get the exact same behaviors as described.
By the way I don't get the "tried to overwrite permanent arp" when the system is completely installed. I only get that error with the installer ramdisk. But the outside-subnet IP I'm trying to reach doesn't respond anyway.
Dooooh I just noticed that the backend interface gets the same IP as the dom0. How could I miss that? (does vif-route work like this on a netbsd dom0 too?) It doesn't prevent linux guests to work properly in a routing configuration. Maybe that participates to the issue I'm having with the netbsd guest. But the main issue remains with mac address mismatching. In fact, it all goes together. It looks like that weired xen/linux dom0 networking (even without proxy_arp) makes the netbsd guest's arp and routing tables go crazy. So I guess I should try to get a cleaner xen/linux dom0 network configuration.
