Hello. If I recall correctly, I tried to do something very similar to what you're doing under NetBSD-9.0 and found I couldn't get the system to boot
on its own because the boot code didn't seem to know how to find the beginning of the raid set inside a gpt partition. I even tried to re-align the
partitions so the 64-block offset, which is how the boot code can boot from raid1 disks labeled with disklabel(8) lined up. I could get the system to boot
fine if I used straight traditional BSD disklabel. That might work in your case since you're not using disks larger than 2TB. That didn't work for me in
production because I'm using 8TB disks.
