PVHVM supports PCI passthrough; PVH does not. I can confirm this works.

PVHVM also allows you to have the kernel on the guest's disk and use the
NetBSD boot loader. This is what we're using for NetBSD-10 customers.

We wind up using this on occasion to deal with bugs. Most recently:

  port-xen/57743: ARP lossage with xennet

I had to switch our internal machines to HVM (with virtio) until I
found a workaround.
