accept -c silently with -d; fixes GNU autoconf (among others) that assume
you can use -c with -d
...but this is NOT a reason for those of you making install procedures
to think this behaviour is `correct'... <grin>

   of different MD5 checksum; Fixes PR pkg/4609 by Matthias Scheler
   <tron%lyssa.owl.de@localhost>
 - change "ldconfig" to "ldconfig .. || true" to work around missing
   ldconfig on alpha (and others?)
