That's the slippery slope -- or at least I hope you're not implying that
all NetBSD commands will eventually support GNU long options.....
One of the better things about getting rid of GNU software from the tree
has nothing to do with copyrights and such -- it is the fact that
bloated software supporting redundant long options is being removed. If
you want long options then you should write wrapper scripts, or GUIs.
BTW, who exactly made such a questionable decision without asking for
input from the users (I'm certain I wouldn't have missed such a
discussion, though I admit I've not scanned the mailing list archives to
see if the question was cleverly hidden from all us Unix radicals).
