Why the heck did this thing appear in "textproc" when all the other awks
are already in "lang" (where I would think they really do belong)????

Hmmm, no, I would say that it's instead long over due time for the
in-tree "awk" to be replaced by nawk.  I've been doing this for a long
time now (since 1.3.3 with the patch I posted for pkgsrc/mk/bsd.pkg.mk,
which I think has been applied) and all is fine and happy.  GNU-be-gone! ;-)

Indeed if the in-tree awk became non-GNU then the pkgsrc/*lang*/gawk
thingy would indeed be handy for those NetBSDers who want it.
