This fix breaks 'case xx in "$@" )...' and 'case xx in "${#1}" ) ...'

$ sh -c 'set "*"; case "2" in "${#1}") echo oops;; esac')
oops
$ sh -c 'set "*" b; case "* b" in "$@") ;; * ) echo oops;; esac')
oops
$
