It appears to me that the only 'lemming' here is the one that incorrectly
believed this script worked anywhere but csh, where it is already built-in.

Of course, this csh script may have worked accidentally for you, but there are
equivalents in every shell.  One assumes you know how to use 'alias' as well as
you know how to insult our developers.
