Please don't forget an entry in src/doc/CHANGES! :-)

And if you want to drop a mail to current-users@ about the impact of this 
whole change, that may be good too. (Explaining readahead to those that 
don't know what it is, if there's any tuning that can/needs to be done, 
what to expect, ...)
