Log Message:
Use the new socket call for Linux and SVR4, because those systems (at
least Linux 2.4.31, Irix 6.5.20 and Solaris 10) use EAFNOSUPPORT.

Only the Linux emulation has been tested.

XXX somebody should audit the other emulations...
