DOS:  Since the msdosfs file system has an archived bit, you could make a
1-level backup system.  However, I don't think pax(1) knows how to handle
the archive bit, if at all, though I could find time to add that capability.
(msdosfs does properly handle the DOS archived bit, and it shows up in
stat.sf_flags.)  If no one else can point you to a utility that can handle
the SF_ARCHIVED flag, file a PR and I'll add ability to pax.

ext2fs:  I'm not sure what backup capabilities this offers, if any.  Someone
else will need to chime in here.
