I wonder if this is worth generalising? Save "verbose=dots" to print
a dot every block, "verbose=progress" for an lukemFTP-like progress
meter, and so on? Something like "pretty-bytes\r" where pretty-bytes is
a nicely formatted number ending in k, M, whatever would strike me as
more useful than just dots. Maybe "verbose" would be the wrong name if
things were taken this far...
