  Also, wasn't the consensus to use /etc for package configuration
instead of /usr/pkg/etc (AFAICT, many packages have moved that way)? 
IMHO, it would be a bit counter-intuitive if configuration was in /etc
but startup scripts resided in /usr/pkg/etc.
