You mean mentioning that we extend some standard by our -v option?
Well, do it either like in ls.1 ("cp is a superset of the ... standard")
or tail.1 (which also mentions which options are extensions).
I think the latter's better.
Not being a real bin-people person, maybe someone from that gang should
review the change(s) too. (I just look over them ;). Also, see my other
mail about compatibility with GNU utils and other tools.
