I think you are missing the point.
You have 'netstat -I <nic> -b' under NetBSD too but the values printed
are the same as 'ifconfig -v'. My patch adds '-h' to ifconfig(8), but
-h can only be used in conjunction with -v. (it doesn't make sense otherwis=
e).
