Take a look at pkgsrc/misc/libutf - it has UTF-8 and Unicode (16 bit)
regular expressions, and a driver program called gurep which is, yes,
g/UTF8 regexp/p functionality.
BSD-licensed, I just can't remember how many clauses right now.
