This doesn't matter to anything much, but it isn't ".." that counts, that
increases the link count of (not surprisingly) .. (the parent of the
directory in question) - the base number of 2 is one for ".", and one
for the name of this directory in its parent directory.   (Then you get
one more for ".." in every subdirectory that's created of couse.)
