Giles, Thor, thank you both for providing your insight on the possible
gotchas and raising my awareness on the ramifications of one option
versus the other.
For the moment, I will go down the route Joerg suggested and see how
it works out. In any case, the issue is well documented in my code and
it won't go unnoticed by the reviewers, if any, if ever :)
