A couple that I can think of:

1. "finger" memory for those that flip between NetBSD and other
platforms (such as RHEL-based Linux, Debian/Ubuntu Linux, or FreeBSD).

2. Easier to start services in $rc_directories other than /etc/rc.d
(so you don't have to remember the "path" to a given service).


I did get a heads-up a while ago from Doug Barton about this command
in FreeBSD, but I dropped the ball about chasing it up for inclusion
in NetBSD.
