ppp was mentioned as an example missing it.

I agree with you.  I guess in your case, ppp_peers was set so pppd was 
ran. Also maybe it should print if ppp_peers is not defined? If you make 
change be sure to send a heads up as I guess some are relying on current 
behaviour.
