I don't have a problem with the color support per se, as long as it's turned off by default. And stays that way. But I very much fear that it will be enabled by default sometimes in the future. If you don't believe me, I'm going to forward this email to you when it happens. Will be a sad day, though.
And, "COLORTERM" is not enough. What if you want different color schemes schemes for different programs? It's more to it.
I still don't understand what's the problem with installing colorls from pkgsrc. If it doesn't work correctly, fix it. I really don't see the need to have this capability in base.
