I have picked awk(1) as it is a single nbtool that is guaranteed to work
in the same way virtually everywhere in the same way.

The idea is to run 'make version.h' for at least each ELF version bump.

#include <stdio.h>

int
main(int argc, char **argv)
{
        printf("'%s'\n", curses_version());

        return 0;
}

$ gcc test.c -lcurses


$ ./a.out
