For the record, I'm having the same problems (unexpected trap)
with the kernel from the snapshot, so apparently it has nothing
to do with my compilation.  I haven't downloaded the entire
snapshot yet, but that shouldn't make a difference, since it
isn't getting far enough to mount root.

Any suggestions?  (For details, see my earlier postings :) )
