 Interesting... I will take a look at that -- just finished setting up a
 FreeBSD 8.1 VM to play around with it.

 Did you run the whole test suite?  Does everything work correctly?  I know
 I had to put the sync() call in there to fix an issue, but I just don't
 remember what the problem was.  Will have to do some testing before
 performing the change.
