How well does dump deal with active filesystems?  I haven't looked
into the source code, since I figure someone here can give me a quick
answer.

I'm a little concerned about the fact that it dumps all directories
before all files.  What happens at restore time if files have been
added or removed from that directory between the directory dump and
the file dump?

This is of particular concern to emacs users, since emacs creates a
new file when saving.  I use emacs to read my mail as well, and so
it's likely that the inode of the mail file (as referenced in the
dumped directory) will no longer be allocated when it gets around to
dumping the actual file.  Or, perhaps even worse, it will be allocated
to some other file elsewhere.

Could someone enlighten me?
