I'm a bit new to this, so i might be doing something wrong, but a panic 
shouldn't happen.

I'd like to connect my two home machines (a 486/66 and a 386/40 both the latest
current) via slip. The slip connection builds up all right, but when I 
start using it the connection breaks sooner or later, and have to reboot
both of them to reconnect. (they work otherwise). So my question is:
is a 3 wire null-modem cable (RXT to TXT, modem lines looped back) ok, or do I 
have to connect the modem ctlr lines. At least this is what i expect to be
the cause. BTW the serial chips are no-fifos.

The other problem is a bit more serious: I was experimenting with ppp. After
starting pppd it builds the connection, and quickly panics the system.
Even just starting pppd on the console without any options, so that it
starts writing its packets on the screen panics the system (may have to try
it a couple of times). DDB shows the panic is in pppioctl(). This happens on
both machines, a hardware bug can be ruled out.
BTW, savecore doesn't find any dump after a panic, but i see the kernel
doing the dump, so it makes debugging a little harder (I have IDE disks and
a week old savecore.)

Has anybody experienced these?
