   After supping last night, I get this error on machdep.c:

   ../../../../arch/i386/i386/machdep.c:768: unterminated character constant
   ../../../../arch/i386/i386/machdep.c:844: unterminated string or character constant
   ../../../../arch/i386/i386/machdep.c:531: possible real start of unterminated constant

   The offending line 531 is an asm(" at the beginning of check_selector().

That's rather curious.  It compiles fine for me and other people.

Are you sure your copy isn't corrupted?  Are you using the GCC that we
supply?
