I am running NetBSD1.0/i386 on a Pentium 90 system with a Maxtor 540 meg IDE
drive. Whenever I run a large compile, or something similar which uses a lot
of swap space (gdb for instance), I tend to get bad block messages from the
swap partition. The error is a hard error reading various sectors from the
swap partition.

I noted some of them down, but they don't seem to be repeated very often.

These then cause whatever is running to dump core with a bus error generally.

The disk is brand new (well a month or two old), before I start to look at
reformating my disk, has anyone else had problems with this ? Could it be a
hardware conflict of some sort ? How stable are the wd drivers ?

I also have a Soundblaster 16 with a Panasonic CDROM (CR 562 I believe). If I
can help with testing the new sound/cd drivers I would like to give it a go.

Cheers,
david
