Dave,

Your drive is being lame, and violating at least the spirit of the
scsi standard.  However this behavior is not fatal.  If you look in
sys/scsi/scsiconf.c you'll see that there is a table of other drives
with the same problem.  Cons up a entry for your drive...test it (it
should remove the multiple probe problem) and send us some diffs.
