Just a minor nit,

on boot my system always says:

                   ^^^^^^^^^^^

even if drive cd0 is not empty. Is this a SCSI driver bug or does my
CD-ROM lie? Does anybody get no "drive empty" message for a SCSI CD-ROM?

(This is on a i386, but I guess the same SCSI code is used by nearly
all ports...)
