Unfortunatly, we didn't hear anything in this regard from either
Charles Hannum, Thor Lancelot Simon or whoever else is a real i386
hacker. 

The problem in question is clearly outside my skill level and I can
imagine others feel the same way.

So may I renew my request to stall this change, send a request to each
port-xxx list that MAXBSIZE=MAXPHYS is tested and then #ifndef the
change for the i386 port as long as it isn't fixed?

I'd like to see maximum write throughput in 1.1, but the only thing I
could do about is was to find out the limit for my machine, which is
32K. Now it is clear that even 32K break some other i386 machines, it
is clear that it has to be *fixed*.
