I have installed NetBSD-current from 960413 on an IBM 760CD thinkpad.
I am trying to get a 3com ethernet pcmcia card (3c589c) to work in the
machine. I have added John Kohl's pcmcia patches from 960415 (they
applied cleanly).
When I boot the PCMCIA kernel, using the config file from the patch
kit, this is printed on the console:
[...]
pcicmaster0 at isa0 port 0x3e0-0x3e1
pcic0 at pcicmaster0: Intel 82365sl Rev. 1 slots 0-1 iomem d4000-d4fff irq 11
pcmcia0 at pcic0
pcmcia0: slot 0 contains <3Com Corporation, 3C589, TP/BNC LAN Card Ver. 2a, 000002>
bus_config failed 19
bus_config failed 19
ep0 at pcmcia0 port 0x300-0x30f irq 10: aui/bnc/utp address 00:a0:24:66:07:27
pcmcia0: slot 1 is empty
[...]
The interface looks ok:
shell>ifconfig ep0
ep0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,NOTRAILERS,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST>
inet 147.214.234.56 netmask 0xffffff80 broadcast 147.214.234.127
But unfortunately it doesn't work (never gets any packets out on the
wire). Also, the LED on the RJ-45 connector never lights up, which I
guess indicates that the interface isn't really up. It lights up when
I test the card from DOS.
Any ideas/help/..?
