Well, either One True Awk, or mawk.  mawk is significantly faster than gawk,
and, last I checked, had only one actual *bug* that gawk didn't, which is
getting fixed shortly.

mawk is actually faster than perl, while all the other awks are slower.

Wouldn't mind seeing a migration to simpler tools.  We could bundle perl
with all the space we'd save.
