You're talking making device nodes at boot time rather than MAKEDEV.
Boy, what a dilemma.  On the one hand, I'm thinking, "this is flexible, this
is cool, this could work."  On the other hand, I'm thinking, "this is slow,
this black-boxes too much -- it's too much like Solaris/Missed 'em V".

I think as long as we don't go the /devices-with-symlinks-from-/dev-to-
/devices route that Slowlaris took, we'll be all right.
