So? Now that it's clear that cp(1) previously depended on the
non-standard behavior of the old namei() to work "correctly"
in this case, and, as a glance at the code reveals rather quickly,
was coded with this in maind, I'd rather call _that_ hackery.

With two of NetBSD's goals (interoperability, conformance to
reasonable standards) in mind:  yes.
