The only  person who's mentioned a split is you, Phil.   If you want
to split off and do your own thing, and you're willing to shut up
about this copyright issue (at least on NetBSD mailing lists), then
that sounds like a pretty good deal to me.   Otherwise, I'm not sure
what your point is.
