No, all I was trying to say was that we are already incompatible so
this change didn't break some existing full compatibility.

I didn't know that SunOS compatibility was one of the goals of the
audio driver.  If it then there are some changes that should be
made to it.  E.g. selecting the input/output source in the same way
as SunOS.  Charles suggested this change to me earlier; I was a bit
reluctant then, but it's looking like a reasonable idea after some
thought.
