I use some 53c810A (asus SC200) without any problems (I even used
one with a ZIP drive), and some 53c875 (ultra wide) too. Performances
are comparable of what I get with my adaptec 2940UW under NetBSD 1.3 (with
the same drives)
I think you should have no problems with your cd recorder.
