If I do
ifconfig -a
I get:
---8<---
we0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,NOTRAILERS,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
address: 00:00:c0:11:48:2d
media: 10base5/AUI
inet 194.77.23.161 netmask 0xfffffff8 broadcast 194.77.23.167
ipi0: flags=2811<UP,POINTOPOINT,SIMPLEX,LINK1> mtu 1500
inet 194.77.23.161 --> 192.168.110.42 netmask 0xffffffff
lo0: flags=8009<UP,LOOPBACK,MULTICAST> mtu 32976
inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 0xff000000
ppp0: flags=8010<POINTOPOINT,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
inet 194.77.23.161 --> 194.77.23.28 netmask 0xffffffff
ppp1: flags=8051<UP,POINTOPOINT,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
inet 194.139.121.194 --> 194.139.121.193 netmask 0xffffffff
--->8--
but if I do
ifconfig we0
it only tells me:
---8<---
we0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,NOTRAILERS,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
media: 10base5/AUI
inet 194.77.23.161 netmask 0xfffffff8 broadcast 194.77.23.167
--->8---
Why is the link layer only printed with the -a option? The man page
doesn't mention this...
