I don't think this is a Mac problem. I've done a number of CDs for folks
on the mac68k list and I've had the same problem. The filenames show up
correctly under NetBSD, but on the Mac and on Windows-3.11, Windows-95
and Windows-NT they show up as mangled 8.3 names. I don't have this
problem with CDs created using Joliet or Mac-type filename extensions if
they're created under MacOS or Windows with the Adaptec application. It
only seems to happen when I master the disks using "mkisofs" under
NetBSD, and it's consistent with both the mac68k and i386 ports. As far
as I can tell the real solution will be to get "myhybrid" up and running.
It's an extended version of "mkisofs" that supports both Joliet and
Mac-type extensions in addition to Rock Ridge.
